This is a lovely inn, which I will happily stay in again and would recommend to friends. It is clean, beautiful and charming. I didn't give it 5 stars for a couple of reasons. The breakfast is "continental"; mostly breads and sweets, some flavored oatmeal to which you add hot water, and hard boiled eggs and yogurt. I don't care for sweet breakfasts, however they do get bonus points for having gluten free banana bread. Back to 4 stars: the bed we had was rather old, the garbage truck was loud outside of our window and cleaning staff banged around in a closet adjacent to our room before 7:00 a.m. The price does reflect the simple breakfast. I would rather pay a little extra and be served a hot breakfast, but not a deal breaker. Once again I do highly recommend the 1820 House in Simsbury!
What a wonderful time we had at the Simsbury 1820 House. The young lady that checked us in the evening of the 23rd was delightful and the Inn Keeper equally so. The rooms were clean, the bed comfortable and our stay was perfect. Joe Pizza across the street was really good too!
This was my second time at Simsbury 1820. I returned for the ambience the Innkeeper creates around the fire. She has a way of bringing guests together with human and spark that makes one feel so welcome and special. She offers to make you coffee even though it is easy to do, she insists and the care and attention along with the stories she shares, in just the right tone and manner, makes one feel like this is HOME. The room was beautiful. Linens so fine. Everything in place and nothing shoddy or skimpy. I will return over and over to this special place! Sharon S.
Nice place quite but needs to keep after maintenance. Grout in need of repair, paper holder not tight to wall. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Rooms and hotel are beautiful. Bed was super comfortable. The air-conditioning in the room was able to keep it cold even with it being 90+ out which is impressive given the age of the building. It is much nicer than the hotel northampton, which is another historic hotel we stayed at recently.
