This is an easy hike. The views are nice, but you may feel rushed to take them in because there are a lot of people here. It's a nice hike without needing to travel far from the Hartford area.
Great hike to the top of the mountain and tower. The hike is a pretty easy 3 mile (round trip) with only the first .75 mile upwards. Kids 5+ can do it no problem. Several other trails intersect in the woods making it fun for the adventurous as well. The view of the area is always picturesque.
Great hike up to the tower. Free entrance to the tower but didn’t realize how much of a hike it was. Impressed that they sold water for only a $1 at the top and weren’t price gouging.
It's an alright spot for a decent view. Over hiked in my opinion. Go across the street and go up penwood you'll get a better view and will be able to see the talcott tower from over there. The good thing is that it's a short hike up from the northern parking lot. Go from Hartford reservoir for a longer hike
Beautiful hike. Not very strenuous (I'm an endurance athlete, 30+ miles per week running, 100+ cycling), but fun. The historic house at the top was also informative, and the view was fantastic! The glass walls let you see off in every direction for miles, and we went up on a clear afternoon.
